Google Fred update points to a black hat tactic
linked to aggressive monetization. This includes excessive ads, which provide
little benefits for the user. It is believed that objective of update is to penalize
those website which gives money more value than providing quality and relevant
information to website visitors. This does not mean that all the sites involved
in the Google Fred update are fictional sites created to generate advertising
revenue, but (as Barry Schwartz noted in his comments on Google Fred), most
websites affected were content sites with a large number of ads and appear to
have been created for the purpose of generating revenue. Schwartz, one of the
leading SEO experts in the industry, said the websites he had analyzed had seen
a 50 to 90 percent drop in traffic from the update.
